Brainspotting Therapy
Brainspotting is a powerful therapeutic approach that addresses your concerns in a different way. Whether it is trauma processing, depression, anxiety, life transitions, or other concerns brainspotting can be beneficial to further process what is troubling you.
What is Brainspotting Therapy? A Guide to Deep Healing Beyond Talk Therapy
If you have ever felt like you are stuck in a cycle of anxiety, trauma, or stress that standard talk therapy just cannot seem to reach, you are not alone. Traditional talk therapy operates primarily in the thinking or reasoning part of your brain. But deeply rooted trauma and emotional distress are often stored much deeper in the subcortical, emotional brain.
That is where Brainspotting therapy (BSP) comes in.
How Does Brainspotting Therapy Work?
Our brains are hardwired to scan our environment for safety and threats. When you experience a traumatic or highly stressful event, your nervous system can become overwhelmed, causing that memory or emotion to get "stuck" or frozen within your subcortical brain.
During a Brainspotting session, I will help you locate a Brainspot—an eye position correlated with the emotional or physical activation of a traumatic or stressful issue.
By holding your gaze on this specific point, you bypass your analytical mind. This allows your brain and body to process the unresolved trauma or a distressing feeling from the inside out, safely discharging the trapped emotional energy.
